Amanda Quaid has developed a unique and remarkably effective method for helping actors master a character’s way of speaking and communicating. She is now on the faculty at The Yale MFA Acting Program.
Oral Posture is the single most effective tool in your dialect work. It allows you to effortlessly “place” an accent and maintain consistency. It also allows you to modulate from “light” to “thick,” and even to invent character voices beyond traditional dialect work.
In this workshop, we’ll explore all the possible postures of the lips, tongue, soft palate, and jaw, plus cover the oral posture orientations of commonly requested accents.
