The Freeman Studio was founded to serve working professional actors, as well as promising actors looking to develop their talents. Therefore, we do not offer classes for those pursuing acting as a hobby. Understandably, not all actors are continuously working. But is is important to the aesthetics and mission of the studio that our peer level be comprised of those ardently in pursuit of that goal. To be granted enrollment, an actor must have at least a basic foundation of training or a reliable and describable way of working.
For the classes and workshops, each actor must arrange a New Actor Meeting. This is an opportunity for us to meet you and see your work for possible placement and enrollment. You will be asked to present a monologue of your choice or by request. Class placement is also determined based on the actor’s resume, experience and/or by references.
Our goal is to ensure that every actor we enroll has the skills to excel in that given class with the appropriate peer level. As our work is so prescriptive, the meeting allows us to have a greater understanding of each actor’s goals and how they approach the work. And since we do not allow audits, the meeting allows the actor to ask questions and learn more before enrolling.
