The Freeman Studio was founded to provide an enriching and nurturing place for actors. On-going Scene Study develops acting techniques for film, stage or television. We believe that constant practice breeds confidence and expertise, which result in greater success in the audition room, on stage, and on set. Therefore, the Scene Study classes are offered on a constant, year-long schedule. Cycles are four weeks long. Once an actor is enrolled they may renew there spot for as long as they wish. All of our teachers have prescriptive methods to get to the heart of what each actor needs to tackle practical challenges in their work, and to discover new techniques to grow in their craft. Find out more about each individual class below.
Scott Freeman has been dedicated to training actors for over three decades. In that time, he has developed a practical, prescriptive method for getting to the heart of what each actor needs. His master classes are for actors with substantial training and practice. Acting exercises at the beginning of class are designed to augment the work being done in class.
Actors are assigned scenes to perform with scene partners. This material is from produced plays, screenplays and television scripts. As the actor progresses in the class, there is increased collaboration in choosing material. Time is always set aside in each class, if necessary, for monologue work and/or upcoming audition material.
While the class work concentrates on process, there is an equal focus on the practical aspects of the career. This influences the material chosen and emphasis of each actor’s growth.
Classes are limited to 12 students. Class is on a 4-week cycle and meets once a week, with an additional hold date. Once you are enrolled in the class, you may renew your spot. If you give it up, and wish to rejoin, you will be placed on the wait-list for the next cycle.

To “re-inspire” is to breathe life back into something.
As the pace for what is expected of today’s actor increases, many express a desire to slow down and reinvestigate who they are as creative artists and how to return to their initial impulses. To rediscover their passion for the craft of acting. This class is for the actor who seeks just that, within the context of a traditional scene study class.
Throughout her successful career on stage and screen, Juilliard trained actor and teacher, Lisa Arrindell, has developed a unique method to help actors look into the pages of a script with enthusiasm and curiosity to find their connection to character and self.
Actors are assigned scenes to perform with scene partners, and material will be prescriptively assigned from plays, screenplays and/or television scripts. Classes are limited to 12 students. This six-week class will meet once a week, with an additional hold date. Once you are enrolled in the class, you may renew your spot. This ongoing class is for actors who seek a way to keep their acting instrument in shape while gaining new insights. The Studio has engaged the esteemed award-winning actor Reed Birney, who through his many years acting in theatre, film & television, has a unique and valuable method for helping actors possess a greater understanding of the craft of acting. Actors will work on scenes primarily from contemporary plays, but older and classical texts are welcome as well.
